What is BPS? Pay scales explained
BPS means Basic Pay Scale. It is the grading system for government posts in Pakistan, from BPS-1 (lowest) to BPS-22 (highest). The grade shown in an advertisement tells you the level of the post.
Other level labels
On the Punjab recruitment portal many contract and project positions show labels other than BPS, such as PPS-8 or S-2, or no level at all. We copy the label exactly as published and never convert it.
Example from a real listing
On the Punjab portal, the positions of Assistant Director (Accounts), (Administration) and (Research, Data & Evaluation) at Social Welfare & Baitul Mall are listed as BPS-17. See current portal listings.
Salary
Salary figures change with government pay notifications, so we do not quote them here. Check the official advertisement for the pay stated for a post.
